Sunna Group has been named Innovation Champion of the Year and winner of the Olle Oscarson Scholarship, one of Jämtland County’s largest and most prestigious entrepreneurial prizes awarded by the Olle Oscarson Foundation, Jämtkraft and Peak Innovation at Guldgalan in Östersund.
The Innovation Champion of the Year Award and the Olle Oscarson Scholarship are awarded annually to a person or company that, through innovative thinking and action, has developed a product, a service and/or a company that is considered to be a role model and show potential for entrepreneurship and business development in Jämtland County.
During the fall, we learned that Sunna Group was one of four companies nominated for the Innovation Champion of the Year 2024 award. In September, our CEO Marcus Qviberg gave a presentation about Sunna’s journey to a jury in Östersund consisting of representatives from Peak Innovation, Näringsidkarna and Jämtkraft.
The prize was announced and awarded at Guldgalan in Östersund on November 7. Sunna’s CEO Marcus Qviberg and business developer Filippa Larsson, both from the Åre office, were present at the gala and received the award on stage.
– We are incredibly happy for the award and grateful to be recognized for what we do and try to achieve. We hope that we can inspire more people to dare to start a business but also contribute to the transition that we need to drive together, says Sunna’s CEO Marcus Qviberg after the announcement of the award.
The entrepreneur Olle Oscarson established the prize to strengthen the entrepreneurial spirit in the county and set aside two million kronor in a foundation fund to award an annual scholarship of at least 50,000 kronor. The purpose of the fund is “to promote entrepreneurship in Jämtland County with a particular focus on innovation, production and early business development”. The fund is managed by a special board and the non-profit association Näringsidkarna i Östersund, which is also involved in selecting the winner. The first grant was awarded in 2021.
The Innovation Champion of the Year and the Olle Oscarson Scholarship 2024 are awarded by Peak Innovation, the Olle Oscarson Foundation and Jämtkraft AB.
“This year’s Innovation Champion has created new business opportunities in the transition to renewable energy with high ambitions, an inclusive drive and great ability to overcome challenges. A role model in the ability to share commitment and opportunities.
This year’s Innovation Champion has created new value by combining low-productivity land with large-scale solar power for northern conditions.
This year’s Innovation Champion is Marcus Qviberg, Sunna Group.”
