Skånum Solar Park now in operation – Sunna Group’s largest project to date

Sunna Group continues to expand solar power in Sweden in partnership with Aneo, and has now commissioned the Skånum Solar Park outside Falköping. Spanning 40 hectares the facility is Sunna’s largest solar park to date.

The 40-hectare facility is located southwest of Falköping, and with its 47,808 solar panels, it will generate approximately 31 gigawatt-hours of electricity per year, equivalent to the annual household electricity consumption of 6,200 single-family homes.

This project is further proof of what it takes to succeed in today’s energy market: strong partnerships, a clear focus, and strong execution capabilities. Many of us have worked hard to make this happen, and seeing Skånum Solpark now in operation makes us incredibly happy, says Marcus Qviberg, CEO of Sunna Group.

The solar park was developed by Sunna Group and built in close collaboration with the Norwegian company Aneo, which owns the facility. We at Sunna were responsible for project management during construction and will also handle the management of the operational facility. The construction itself was carried out by EnergiEngagemang, now known as Alstra Energy.

I’d like to extend a special thank you to Aneo for our excellent collaboration and to Alstra Energy for a job well done, Marcus concludes.

Sunna Group and Aneo work to develop projects that are both profitable and sustainable, and that take into account the local environment and future land use.

Skånum Solar Park has been established on a low-productivity agricultural area with poor growing conditions, primarily due to high soil moisture. Now that the area is being used for electricity production, the project demonstrates how solar power can add new value to land while contributing to local value creation and increased access to renewable energy. The solar park is designed to serve as grazing land for sheep and is built without high surrounding fences, allowing for free movement.

Skånum Solar Park is a great example of how we work: efficiently, in close collaboration with strong partners, and with a clear ambition to contribute to the energy transition. We see significant demand for new renewable energy, and this project demonstrates that it is possible to rapidly develop and implement facilities when we work with a clear focus. I would also like to commend the collaboration with Sunna and the contractor Alstra Energy for an efficient and solution-oriented implementation, says Beate Nesje, project manager at Aneo
