Sunna Group is proud to have developed two new large-scale solar parks in Falköping with a combined capacity of 43 megawatts and an annual production of around 46 gigawatt hours. The projects are realized together with Norwegian Aneo and will start construction already in the next six months.
The new solar parks, located in the municipality of Falköping in electricity price area SE3, represent an important investment in large-scale solar energy in the Nordic region. Construction will begin in the first half of 2025, and the parks are scheduled to be completed by the end of the year and the first six months of 2026. The two facilities will have an installed capacity of 13 MWp and 30 MWp, where the latter is expected to be one of Sweden’s largest solar parks when commissioned. Together, the plants are expected to produce electricity equivalent to the annual household electricity consumption of more than 9,000 homes.
Marcus Qviberg, CEO of Sunna Group, comments on the collaboration:
– This is another important milestone for us at Sunna. Our team has done a fantastic job in developing these solar parks into realizable projects, and we look forward to working with Aneo to complete the construction of these parks and continue to manage them in a way that maximizes their potential.
Kari Skeidsvoll Moe, EVP Renewables at Aneo, highlights Sunna’s crucial role in the process:
– Our talented partners at Sunna have once again shown that it is possible to develop high-quality projects in Sweden at a pace that we in Norway can currently only dream of. Both Sunna and the regional authorities in Sweden deserve credit for their thorough and efficient work, which means that good projects can be commissioned less than three years after project development began.
During the development period, the two projects have had the working names Stensamlaren (30 MWp) and Falken (13 MWp). The larger plant has reached the stage of being ready for construction in record time thanks to a conditional grid connection agreement with grid owner Falbygdens Energi Nät AB (FENAB), which is probably one of the first times this kind of solution has been tested for a solar park in Sweden. The plant also received an unusually quick approval from the County Administrative Board of Västra Götaland, which gave positive feedback on the consultation notification in less than three months.
Both projects will be established on agricultural land, but where Falken has been developed on land that has largely lain fallow for the past 20 years. For Stensamlaren, the land will continue to be maintained in an agricultural way, for example with grazing or grassland cultivation.
The partnership between Aneo and Sunna Group is based on a shared vision of driving the green transition forward through innovative and sustainable energy projects. Aneo is responsible for the investment and long-term ownership of the two solar parks, which are developed by Sunna Group that will also lead the construction and manage the facilities after commissioning.
The two new solar parks are part of the long-term collaboration between Aneo and Sunna Group, which previously resulted in the Henja Solar Park outside Gislaved, which was commissioned in March last year.
– Our goal is to build 1 gigawatt of solar energy before 2030, and we already have a portfolio of about 900 MWp, of which 300 MWp have secured permits and 100 MWp are ready for construction within 1-2 years. Now we can focus fully on further developing our projects to achieve our goal. The future of solar energy in Sweden is bright, and we at Sunna are determined to continue to lead the way, says Marcus Qviberg, CEO of Sunna Group.

Sunna was founded in 2021 with the ambition to increase the amount of solar electricity in the energy system by developing, owning and managing large-scale solar power in the Nordic region. Together with long-term capital partners, Sunna is a sustainable player in the Swedish energy market.
Sunna increases access to green, locally produced solar electricity, which enables faster regional establishment and expansion of companies, as well as support for the electrification of society as a whole. Sunna’s goal is to build 1 gigawatt by 2030 and has now secured permits for a quarter of that capacity. sunnagroup.com
