Want to work with the energy of the future?

At Sunna, we develop solar parks in our own way by looking for sites with low alternative use, choosing not to use fences around the facility and actively working with efforts to strengthen the biodiversity at the site. We are now looking for more employees who want to contribute to the green energy supply of the future and work with us to create the conditions for a more sustainable society.

Our culture is based on pride and responsibility. We know that we need to act now in order to create change going forward and by thinking long-term we lay the foundations for a more sustainable future. We are proud to be an important part of the green transition. We dare to be brave in how we work and in doing so find new ways forward and are able to do things differently. We are curious about our surroundings, responsive and always want to know more.

Our head quarters are located among mountains and nature in Åre, but we also have offices in Stockholm and Gothenburg. We have a remote-first policy and several of our employees work remotely.

Master Thesis Project at Sunna Group – Solar Power and Forest Land: Does the Climate Impact Assessment Calculation Add Up?

Are you interested in renewable energy and sustainability? Do you want to contribute to a more sustainable future? Then this master thesis project is for you!

Sunna Group is a company in the renewable energy sector. We develop, build and own large-scale solar power on land. We are now looking for a curious and committed student for a master thesis project focusing on the climate impact of solar power plants on forest land. This is a non-paid master thesis project but with loads of other benefits!

We have prepared research questions so you can see our initial thoughts. At this stage, we have focused on the climate impact but are also interested in investigating biodiversity. However, we are more than happy to develop the research questions together with you to meet our mutual interests and needs.

Research questions:
  • What is the climate impact of constructing a solar power plant on forest land? Including site preparation, construction and operation.
    – Compared to other types of land or classification of forest land?
    – Compared to alternative land uses and energy sources?
  • Methods for choosing land suitable for solar power plants; from a climate and biodiversity perspective.
  • What measures can minimize the negative climate impact and maximize the positive effects of solar power plants on forest land?
Your profile:
  • You are a Master’s level student in a relevant field, e.g. Environment, Sustainability, Forestry, Nature Conservation, Energy.
  • You have a strong interest in sustainability and renewable energy.
  • You are analytical, driven and have a good ability to work independently.
We offer:
  • An opportunity to contribute to important research in a relevant area.
  • Access to expertise and data within Sunna Group AB.
  • A chance to develop and learn more about solar energy and sustainability.
  • For you to carry the project through remotely or from Stockholm, Göteborg or Åre.
  • Sandra Tenggren (based in Åre) as your supervisor, lawyer with over 10 years of experience in Sustainability.
